Geography

1. Read from Geography section pages 4 to 5.
a) Underline the nine countries that bordered Germany; check the map on page 4.
b) Underline the following places: The Rhine River, Lake Constance, the Harz and Taunus Mountains, the Bavarian Alps and the Black Forest.

2. Read from pages 11 to 15 and underline the most important characteristics of each city.

a) Print or draw two maps, and paste them separately on optional pages.
b) Locate on the map the places: The Rhine River, Lake Constance, the Harz and Taunus Mountains, the Bavarian Alps and the Black Forest.

2. Use a dictionary if you need it.
3. On optional pages (O.P.) illustrate the words from your Science vocabulary.

SPELLING
Lesson 1 Words with the Short Sound of /ou/

1. Read the words (page 3).

a) Listen to the words CD Track 8 and enumerate them as you listen to them.

b) Listen each word, stop the CD and repeat the word, clap your hands for each sound. A sound is a syllable. Example: proud: 1 clap = 1 syllable

c) On the column Part of Speech identify the adjectives, verbs, nouns, etc.

d) Look on the dictionary the words and write the meaning on optional pages (o.p.)

Example: proud = orgulloso (a).

2. On page 4 write the words in the correct column. Remember to pronounce the word and clap your hands to identify the number of syllables.

3. On page 5 identify the words in bolds, this is the hint to identify the words.

On question 5 the hint is the word "hidden" (Example: count: account).

4. To do your page 6 first read the sentence and identify the context , for example on the number 1 underline the word bathroom , that is the context. You can use the word meaning that you looked at the dictionary to help yourself.

Reading and writing numbers pages 3-5
a) Remember: Million thousand hundred
Example: 5 3 5, 0 2 3, 1 0 0
Five hundred thirty-five million, twenty-three thousand, one hundred.

b) Before and after .
before (subtract 1) after (add 1)

You are very good doing Math, I’m sure your exercises are done. Very good!




COMPOSITION



1. On page 3, remember the beginning of your school year and answer the questions. Read your page 4 and identify if you are doing some activities mentioned on your book, if you find some mark them.
2. Book report. (3 paragraphs)
a) Select a book that you had read, check the Title, the author's name, the characters, and recall the things that you liked and those that you didn't like.
b) On page 5 you have an outline, there you have three roman numerals I, II, III. These are your topic sentences. Write a topic sentence on each roman numeral. A topic sentence is the first sentence on a paragraph.

c)Then look the letters A, B and C, there you have to write more information related to your topic sentence.

d)Check your writing, revise the spelling, grammar and punctuation.

e) On page 6 write your book report in a paragraph form. Remember to write the title, the 3 paragraphs, and the indentation.



You can check your book reports from Units 5 and 6, so you can remember the correct form to write a 3 paragraph book report.
